Vision & Mission
Green Corridor’s primary aim is to reduce social exclusion and improve the education opportunities in some of the poorest areas of West London.
Our mission is to improve the access of 14-25 year olds to employment, education and training through practical land-based learning.
Providing accredited training through an informal yet structured programme, we engage young people with activities that are achievable and that encourage a high degree of self-motivation.
Our programmes reward participation with tangible outcomes such as a qualification, a visibly improved local environment or the highly visible outcome of growing plants and vegetables.
Green Corridor’s ambition is to be recognised as an organisation that uses its environmental knowledge and skills to address the everyday challenges faced by young people. Teamwork, communication, timekeeping and dressing appropriately are a few of the skills and qualities needed for land based work and that also relate to the wider workforce.
We engage with a number of local organisations at both a strategic and delivery level. This allows us to evaluate our overall impact and to ensure that we are integrating our work with other agencies locally.
Green Corridor’s project contributes to the Local Authorities ‘Local Area Agreements’ for Hillingdon, Hounslow and Ealing.
Nationally, Green Corridor’s work dovetails with recent political changes and the new Government’s ‘Big Society’ agenda. Green Corridor offers non-statutory education opportunities with a view to providing additional services that otherwise are unlikely to be offered.
