In Spring 2012 we arrived at the Manor Way site, Southall, to find a site in need of a lot of clearing, a lot of hard work and a lot of loving care. Our plan was always to create a space that involved and inspired the local community to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
Since we’ve been involved in the site we have been able to create an amazing:
• 8 raised bed
• 16 growing plots
• Bricked Kitchen Garden (Peoples Health Trust)
• WW2 inspired bunker and Trench (Heritage Lottery Fund)
• Bug Hotel
• Brick paths
• Natural Reptile pond
• Installed a fully functioning compost loo (Big Lottery)
• Open days to inspire the local community (Big Lottery)
We would like to thank the London Borough of Ealing Environment & Leisure Team who played a big part in the regeneration. We would like to thank everyone who has helped to fund and support the project, everyone who has volunteered their time to help improve and maintain the site and especially our Green Corridor learners. They came to the site when it was cold and raining to work hard, showing their passion and skill throughout the progress of Manor Way.
Welcome and good luck to the new community group who are now hopefully benefiting from the site and all that it can bring. We look forward to hopefully working with you in the future!
