For every business, the safety and well-being of their customers and employees is a top priority and the field of education is no different. So here at Green Corridor, we are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded the prestigious ‘Leaders in Safeguarding’ quality mark, only the nineteenth organisation in the UK to receive this accolade.
This is in recognition of the high quality educational support and care we deliver to all our young learners, each of whom has a special educational need and learning difference.
We know from experience that provision of a safe and welcoming environment is the bedrock upon which vocational learning, personal growth and development is based. Feedback from carers, parents, learners and our Local Authority partners was also a critical element of the evidence base on which we were rigorously audited.
We remain absolutely committed to maintaining effective relationships with our safeguarding partners when it comes to the wellbeing of each and every learner in our care and will continue to place safeguarding at the very heart of everything we do.
We are now taking bookings for provision over summer for young people with Special Needs.
The support we are offering can include one or a mix of Employability, Horticulture and Catering short courses taught by our qualified and passionate tutors, and every young person will receive an in house certificate for each of the subjects they complete. All the placements of young people will need to be funded by the local borough at the low cost of £50.00 per day.
Our catering courses are 2 weeks long, this will be working towards a level 1 BTEC award in Home Cooking Skills. This time can be extended dependent on the young person and their needs. We can also timetable in our employability programme which around 2 days but is broken down into 8 workshops.
Our Horticulture course is 1 week long, but again, can be extended and our employability programme can be worked into their timetable here too.
Young people will be taken on a case by case basis and we will arrange a visit with our EHCP and Transitions manager prior to agreeing a placement with us to ensure we are able to and the best way to meet the needs of the young person.
Places are given on a first come – first serve basis so please do get in contact with us as soon as you can to ensure a place for your young person/people.
We are aware that some annual reviews have been delayed due to Covid-19 so transition choices may not have been made yet for young people. We are contacting you to let you know that we still have a few places available on our Horticulture courses for September 2020 (we may also have 1 place left on our Catering course) and that we are open and able to offers tours following social distancing or virtual tours on Zoom. We are currently providing education as normal for our young people due to our small group sizes and open plan spaces.
We have also just been awarded the prestigious “Leaders in Safeguarding” quality standard alongside our other quality marks such as DisabilityConfident Committed and London Youth Gold, so I do hope you will consider us both a value for money and high quality destination for any young people in your borough with an EHCP aged 16-25 wishing to learn life skills, vocational skills and catering and horticulture vocational skills with 80% onward employability.
