On Monday 17TH February 2016 Maria Pedro – Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Hounslow visited the GC L&D Centre, Nr Terminal Five, Heathrow.

We had a number of our young people onsite accompanied by three volunteers who are currently working on the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.

The tasks for the day included working hard on preparing the Kitchen garden raised beds so that they are ready for planting with an assortment of herbs and summer salad plants.

Another group were involved in making some longer narrower raised beds, which will be planted with sunflowers and wild flowers. These beds will act as a border along the front lawn area.

As you will see from the photographs our young people seemed to enjoy having the opportunity to meet and talk to Maria Pedro about their experience with Green Corridor.

We were delighted to have had this opportunity and to receive the following comment from Maria Pedro following her visit:

“It was a pleasure to meet you and your young people and see Green Corridor in action.   I can see easily why Green Corridor is so successful and congratulate you and everyone else for building up such a tremendous community resource that is making a real difference to young people’s lives.  I’m sure many of your learners will find any gaps in their lives filled by the comradeship of being part of Green Corridor.”
