Today (25th July 2016) we were joined by some wonderful volunteers from Biffa who oddly were really eager to get stuck in to our weeds.
They divided themselves into three teams to tackle the various jobs on site.
One group worked with Jamie and Philip to help redefine the feature bed outside of our meeting room window and helped plant out some decorative plants in order to add a splash of colour to an otherwise dreary area of the site.
Another of the teams spent their morning slashing back the stinging nettles on the pathway to our beehives and one chap spent the whole morning working alongside Rory to weed and dig over one of the raised beds.
After a fantastic lunch prepared by our learners from the vegetables on site, we reconvened to have a final battle with the weeds in our newly rabbit proofed vegetable plots.
After a long hard day’s work they left satisfied and happy to have made a difference.
We are incredibly grateful for all the fantastic work done and the wonderful attitude the team at Biffa had; now with the raised beds and plots weed free we can concentrate on the important job of planting out our last crop of veg in time for the autumn harvest.
Thanks Biffa, we hope to see you again one day.
