Starting in March 2016 on a fortnightly basis three of our Young learners – Reece, Jamie and Terry have been given the opportunity to rollup their sleeves and work alongside the landscaping staff at Heathrow Marriott Hotel to help carry out maintenance and reshape the landscaping displayed in their front of house areas.

Over the last month shrubs and weeds have been cut back, flower beds have had layers of mulch applied and edging material has been rearranged.

New shrubs have now been planted across the site, adding many new features to previously bare areas.

Other new plantings helped to guide foot traffic away from plant root zones to prevent soil compaction and improve hedge health.

Reece,Jamie and Terry have helped in selecting the planting locations for many spaces, and have planted fast-growing Buddleia amongst hedges to add structure to otherwise flat borders.

We will be adding regular updates to this project and more photos will follow shortly.

Thank you to the team at Marriott Hotel, London Heathrow for giving our Young learners this opportunity to further develop their practical skills and confidence.
