Summer Celebration Event 2018
(3rd August 2018)
On Wednesday 25th of July, over 50 invited guests attended our first ever Summer Celebration Event at our Learning and Development Centre.
On arrival guests mingled over non-alcoholic Pimms made by our catering students and at 6.15pm the event was officially opened in a short welcome speech by the CEO.
Guests were then able to learn all about the generosity of the DHL Foundation in supporting the creation of our new netted fruit cages and to take part in learning how to graft cuttings onto root stock. Thanks to support from the Heathrow Community Fund another group learned all about the environmental benefits of aeroponic growing systems for herbs and the final group shaped bread rolls in our new teaching kitchen funded by the BIG Lottery.
Following the presentation of award certificates and trophies to catering and horticulture students, all with special educational needs and learning differences, guests had the opportunity to network with each other, learners, parents and sponsors. Entertainment was provided by Adam Elliott, one of our young people, on his ukulele and guests were served a wonderful array of canapés prepared and served by our catering students.
Everyone had a great evening and the following feedback was typical of comments received about the event.
“I just wanted to say thank you to you and all the team, particularly the learners, for last night’s event which was a wonderful celebration of all your hard work. Green Corridor has achieved an awful lot in the last year or so, and it’s great to see all your exciting new projects coming to fruition (literally in some cases!). All your learners were great ambassadors for you and are clearly benefitting a great deal form your support”. Dr. Rebecca Bowden, DirectorHeathrow Community Fund.
“I just wanted to say thank you to your staff, volunteers and learners for a fantastic evening on Wednesday. It was great to see what the learners are involved in and has definitely helped me to have a better understanding of what young people can achieve at Green Corridor. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it was great to see the good relationships between the learners and staff. I would love to keep up to date with what is happening at Green Corridor.” Katie Jackson. Advanced Social Work Practitioner, London Borough of Hounslow.
“I would like to say congratulations for the event last week. It was great to see a good turn out and the way you and your team engaged with everyone.I would like to congratulate Dean ‘Deano’, from seeing him when I first met you and to now just showed how well he has come along and the way he presented himself to everyone was brilliant.” Scott Bryant – DHL

Following the event we have already received interest from referral agents wanting to onboard 3 additional young people onto our horticulture and catering provision.
We are so proud of the achievements and fantastic development of all our learners. At Green Corridor, they have discovered skills they never knew they had, built confidence and made friends that will last for life. As a charity, we rely on funding, donations and volunteers. If you spare a few hours or you’re able to make a donation, please get in contact with us and we will be extremely grateful for your support and kindness.
