About Vocational
Our Vocational Pathway provides learners with practical, work-related learning experiences designed to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for future employment and adult life.

Delivered by specialist tutors across Hospitality & Catering, Horticulture, Maintenance, and Retail & Customer Service, learners take part in hands-on activities that reflect real workplace environments. Through these experiences, learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) valued by employers, while working towards their individual Preparing for Adulthood outcomes.

Learners build essential employability skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, following routines, and developing positive workplace behaviours. They gain confidence interacting with customers and the wider community, develop independence through activities such as money handling and managing responsibilities, and learn the importance of safe working practices and wellbeing.

Functional Skills
English, maths, and digital skills are embedded throughout each vocational programme, allowing learners to apply these essential skills in meaningful, real-life contexts.
Functional Skills development is linked directly to vocational activities, helping learners strengthen their communication, numeracy, and problem-solving skills for the workplace and everyday life.
By combining practical learning with personalised support, the Vocational Pathway enables learners to grow in confidence, increase their independence and take meaningful steps towards future employment, further learning and adult life.
Learner Stories
Saad's Journey
This is now Saad's second academic year at Green Corridor, successfully completing his entry level qualification in Practical Horticulture Skills last year. This year, Saad has worked very hard and has been a great asset to the Horticulture work experience team, helping to renovate some of the patient gardens at St. Peter’s hospital. He has made great progress with his functional skills in maths and English and is very keen to keep learning.
Saad will be continuing his Employability Skills qualification next year, moving from a Horticulture focus this year, to a Catering focus as he looks to increase and diversify his skills towards his chosen pathway.
