Therapy Provision

At Green Corridor, we provide a diverse array of therapeutic interventions tailored to the specific requirements outlined in learners' Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). These interventions encompass Speech and Language therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Counselling. Additionally, learners are afforded the opportunity to participate in sensory circuits during morning sessions, ensuring their individualised needs are met.

Collaboratively, our team of therapists, working in conjunction with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), engage in comprehensive assessments of learners at Green Corridor. This diligent process includes a thorough review of all EHCPs at the commencement of each academic year. This proactive measure enables the discernment of the precise type and quantity of therapeutic interventions essential for each learner's optimal progress and well-being.

To further fortify the support framework, we have integrated universal therapy strategies within the classroom setting. Notably, methodologies such as the Zones of Regulation and techniques for managing emotions have been seamlessly embedded into the daily learning experience by our dedicated tutors. This ensures that all learners, irrespective of their specific therapeutic requirements, have access to a consistent and inclusive educational environment that prioritises their holistic development.

The education and therapy staff collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team at Green Corridor to cater to the diverse needs of attending pupils. Establishing communication with therapists is integral for teaching and support staff. Pupils may access a combination of therapies based on their EHCP, including Speech and Language therapy, Physiotherapy, and Occupational therapy.

Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT): Our SaLT team assists students identified in their EHCP with speech and language needs by:

  • Facilitating various communication modes to enhance their communicative abilities.

  • Fostering language and communication skills within both classroom and broader school contexts.

  • Enabling curriculum access, learning, and progression. They support skill development in:

  • Attention and Listening, Auditory processing.

  • Understanding Receptive and Expressive Language.

  • Independent Communication and Speech Clarity.

  • Higher-level thinking and Social Interaction.

  • Use of alternative communication methods like AAC

The Speech and Language Services at Green Corridor serve individuals aged 16-25 with communication needs, aiming to bolster functional language skills, confidence in communication, community and workplace interaction, self-esteem, and mental well-being.

Occupational Therapy (OT): OT supports children with EHCP-identified needs in areas such as cognition, physical abilities, sensory perception, and motor skills. They focus on:

  • Seating and positioning, hand function, and learning skills.

  • Self-care tasks, sensory abilities, and environmental interaction. The intervention framework ranges from universal to specialist, ensuring timely access to OT expertise. The aim is to enhance occupational performance in daily activities and life skills.

Counselling: An experienced counsellor provides a safe space for individuals to express emotions and thoughts without judgment. They facilitate understanding and finding solutions to problems without giving direct advice.

Physiotherapy: An experienced physiotherapist offers comprehensive assessment and therapy for learners with movement disorders, employing a person centred approach. They tailor techniques to individual needs, aiming for optimal potential achievement.

At Green Corridor, our commitment to providing a formalised and tailored therapeutic approach underscores our dedication to fostering an environment conducive to the academic, emotional, and physical advancement of all learners under our care.
