Our Residential 2026 trip was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, laughter and lots of personal achievements from our learners.
Learners arrived on Monday full of excitement and high spirits. After settling into their rooms and unpacking (and eating a Green Corridor packed lunch!), everyone gathered to do some team-building challenges. They helped everyone get to know each other better, build confidence and work together as a group, and included walking on milk crates, a map reading challenge and a collaboration challenge getting a ball down a series of gutters.
In the evening, everyone enjoyed Italian night for dinner, which was a big hit with the learners. After dinner, the group relaxed with a movie night and popcorn, the perfect way to end an exciting first day.
On Tuesday we started as we meant to go on with a huge cooked breakfast to fuel the day, learners jumped straight into a range of outdoor activities including canoeing, archery, rock climbing, and fire lighting. These challenges pushed many learners outside their comfort zones. For some, it was their first time trying activities like these, but they showed incredible bravery and determination.
Throughout the day we saw fears conquered, new skills learned and confidence grow. It was amazing to see the pride and huge smiles on learners’ faces after achieving something they never thought they could do. It helped that the sun shone too!
That evening was burger night for dinner, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed after such an active day. The night finished with everyone gathered around a campfire and roasting marshmallows, only interrupted by the fire brigade turning up – not to put out our camp fire, but because one of the instructors from the centre accidentally set off the fire alarm in their house...
On Wednesday morning, learners woke up ready for the final stretch, starting with another hearty breakfast before finishing off the last activities of the trip – some built a land raft, others enjoyed being pushed around on a land raft, and the low ropes course proved a great challenge too. Although everyone was a little tired from the busy few days, the sense of accomplishment and the memories made, made it all worthwhile.
The residential was a fantastic opportunity for learners to build confidence, develop independence and strengthen friendships. We are incredibly proud of how everyone challenged themselves, supported one another, and embraced every moment of the experience.
A huge thank you to our incredible staff team. The hard work they put in behind the scenes should never go unnoticed. From the planning and organisation to the care and support given throughout the trip, their dedication makes experiences like this possible. The care, consideration, patience and kindness they show our learners every day is truly invaluable.
What an incredible three days it has been — one we are sure our learners and staff will remember for a long time!
